Water damage is one of the most common insurance claims.  Below, you will find a few of the more common ways that you may experience water damage in your home.

Swimming Pool

If you have a swimming pool, you need to make sure it is sealed and stays sealed.  If your pool springs a leak, it could flood your yard and possibly into your basement.

Without notice, a sewage line could back up and result in flooding.  If this happens, it is more vital than normal to resolve the damage as quickly as possible.  Sewage obviously contains more than just water and can cause staining, foundation issues, and most noticeably, a foul odor.

When it comes to the weather, it can be unpredictable and vicious.  If you are in the midst of a particularly strong storm, you could end up with a damaged roof which could lead to water damage in your cieling.  You could also experience a flooded basement if the rainfall is heavy enough and your foundation can not handle it.

Maintaining your washing machine or dishwasher could prevent possible flooding.  If the seals are worn, you could end up with seeping water every time you run your appliance.  If left untreated, you could end up with large amounts of unseen mold.

When winter rolls around, temperatures begin to drop.  If your pipes aren't winterized, they could freeze and eventually burst.  A burst pipe could cause all sorts of problems including flooding.

These are just a few of the more common causes of water damage throughout your home.  Ultimately, you need to remain vigilant and keep an eye out around your home to prevent possible flooding or other damages.
